Who is Ricky?
A basic description of my brother, Ricky Young, is a difficult one.
Ricky was born in 1971 to our parents, Becky Edder Young and Craig Young. In 1973 our parents moved to Alabama and stayed in Scottsboro.
Ricky is a big brother to me, Heather.. our sister, DeLisa.. and the late, Jason Young. He’s a father to his daughters, Brittany, Savannah and Nova Jane; son, Braxton and a grandfather .
Jason passed away in 1987.. the beginning of Ricky’s hurt began.
He once told me that he used alcohol and marijuana to surpress his feelings and that began the downward spiral.
Ricky struggled with addiction for years, until the last time he used on May 2, 2025.
But, that’s not the end of his story. Ricky is so much more than a man who’s struggled with addiction.
Ricky is an amazing father to Brittany, an amazing grandfather, an amazing uncle, an amazing friend, son and brother. You could always count on him to make you laugh, send the most ridiculous Facebook videos or Marketplace Ads. Ricky was and still is a wonderful man.

I am Ricky’s little sister, Heather. The purpose of this site is to tell Ricky’s story… until he can speak again, and to bring awareness about addiction, fentanyl, depression and many other things we have experienced. We hope to reach other’s through our struggles and God’s word.
