“ so that he would not have a glimpse of death”

“By faith Enoch was caught up and taken to heaven so that he would not have a glimpse of death; And he was not found because God had taken him.” - Hebrews 11:5

Mentally and physically, I’m completely exhausted, but I remind myself that I prayed for this and I’m grateful. Right now, we are working hard to raise approximately $9,000 to purchase a Broda Synthesis positioning chair. This special chair will enable Ricky to be moved safely and comfortably from the bed to the outside, the car, doctor appointments, and more. It will greatly improve his mobility and quality of life. When God fully heals him and he is able to walk again, we plan to donate the chair to someone else in need, so it can continue to serve and bless others.

I was only able to stay with Ricky for a day this past week, which felt far too short. It’s hard being away from him, and that part still hasn’t gotten any easier over time. Ricky is still doing well, considering everything. He continues to move his left leg, turn his head, and hold his head up when he feels like it. Additionally, he has shown some encouraging movement in his arms. On Saturday morning, I accidentally overslept and hurriedly ran into Ricky’s room before leaving for home. When I entered, Ricky kept looking back and forth between me and his foot. Sometimes, this is how he communicates his feelings or frustrations. I naturally assumed he was upset because he couldn’t move his foot, so I tried to encourage and cheer him up. As he continued, I gently pulled back his blanket to get a clearer look. To my surprise, his “bad” leg was crossed over his left leg, and he was rubbing his right foot with his left foot. Of course, I cried tears of joy in that moment. It’s truly amazing and heartwarming to witness new movements and signs of progress, no matter how small they may be!

Saturday evening, when I called for an update, I asked the nurse if she had noticed any new movement from him. She said, “Actually, yes, when I went in earlier, I straightened his legs, and then later when I went back, I saw that he had his right foot crossed over his left.” God is truly amazing and is doing remarkable things in this difficult situation.

Right now, what we really need are prayers—for the wheelchair, for a smooth transfer to Highlands, and also for the medical team at UAB to remember all the important care details, like when his secretion patch needs to be changed, when he needs to be turned, and all the other essential tasks that must be done consistently.

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to attend church, which was a truly uplifting experience. We held a special service dedicated to the men of The Potter’s House, and what a profound blessing that event turned out to be. These men have faced some of the lowest points in their lives and are now experiencing the deep and lasting peace that only God can provide. Witnessing their transformation and the hope they carry is nothing short of amazing. For several years, I have also volunteered with the women of The Father’s House, and I absolutely love being a part of that community. The atmosphere they create is filled with warmth and genuine care. The love they show, their unwavering faith, their devotion to God, and their incredible strength to stay sober and resilient continually inspire me.

We love you all and thank you for your prayers. Keep them coming ! He’s still working !
