“And the king’s hand was restored to him as it was before.”

1 Kings 13:6 “ Then the king answered and said to the man of God, “ Please entreat the favor of the Lord your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.” So the man of God entreated the Lord and the king’s hand was restored to him as it was before.”

We finally escaped UAB after an intense and challenging 101 days, and we are now back home in Scottsboro. Ricky is adjusting remarkably well to his new environment and is showing great signs of progress. Yesterday, for the very first time in 102 days, Ricky was able to be bathed with actual soap and water. Afterward, he felt so calm and comfortable that he enjoyed the best nap he’s had in a long time.

Today, Ricky was carefully in a recliner chair, a new part of his daily routine designed to improve his mobility and gradually help him regain some much-needed strength. At the new facility, they have started a continuous feeding plan, hoping that some of the nourishment will finally “stick” and begin to support his recovery. Over the past 100 days, Ricky has lost 40 pounds, so regaining strength and weight is critical. Last night, we all fell asleep with a deep sense of relief — relief that Ricky is now closer to home. We can finally rest peacefully at night without having to drive two hours to reach him if he needs us. It’s comforting to know that the people caring for Ricky genuinely care about him personally; he is not just another bed number to them.

We are continually praying for and firmly believing in a complete and full recovery. I truly know in my heart that God can and will make this happen. God has blessed us by allowing us to celebrate what “they” once said was impossible. And guess what?? In under 24 hours of being moved “home,” WE HAVE RIGHT FOOT MOVEMENT!!!

Please continue to pray for Ricky and all of us !
